What the job involves

Wallpaper is hard to get right. If the pattern drifts or bubbles form, you see it every day and it is expensive to redo.

You get walls prepared first, then paper hung straight, matched and smooth. Sockets, switches and corners are trimmed cleanly.

Common questions

Should I buy the paper myself?

Yes, if you have already chosen it. If you have not, ask before you buy. Some papers are much harder to hang than others and we will tell you which are which.

Can you strip the old paper first?

Yes. Old paper comes off and the wall underneath is made good before anything new goes up.

What about big patterns?

Large repeats are fine. They use more paper, so buy extra. Pattern matching across a room is the part that takes the time.

Do the walls need work first?

Sometimes. Rough walls need lining paper, and holes need filling. See plastering and plasterboard repairs.

How much paper should I buy?

Measure the height and width of each wall and take those figures to the shop. Buy one roll more than the calculation says. Patterned paper wastes more at every drop, and running out halfway through a room often means a different batch and a visible colour change.

We cover south west London, south London and Surrey, including Sutton, Wimbledon, Kingston upon Thames, Richmond, Clapham, Putney, Wandsworth, Epsom, Leatherhead and Dorking. If you are not sure, call and ask.
