NW Handyman

Legal

Terms of Service

Last updated: 5 August 2026

These terms apply when you book work with NW Handyman Services. They sit alongside your legal rights, and nothing here takes those rights away.

1. Who you are dealing with

NW Handyman Services provides handyman and property maintenance services across south west London, south London and Surrey. You can reach us by email at [email protected] or by phone on 07961 104266, and we will give you our full postal address on request.

2. Quotes and prices

  • Prices shown on this website are starting prices. They tell you what a job usually begins at, not what your job will cost.
  • Our labour rate is £30 per hour for work that is not covered by a starting price.
  • You get a firm price before any work starts. If we find something we could not see when quoting, such as rot behind a fence post or damaged plaster behind tiles, we will stop and agree the extra cost with you before carrying on.
  • Materials are charged separately unless we have said otherwise in writing.
  • Where VAT applies it will be shown on your quote and your invoice.

3. Your right to cancel

When we agree a job in your home, or over the phone, by email or through this website, you have 14 days to cancel without giving a reason. The 14 days start the day after we agree the job.

To cancel, just tell us clearly. Email [email protected], call 07961 104266, or write to us. You can use the wording at the bottom of this page, but you do not have to.

If you want work to start inside the 14 days

  • You need to ask us in writing to start early, and confirm you understand what that means.
  • If we finish the job inside the 14 days at your request, your right to cancel ends once the work is complete.
  • If you cancel part way through, you pay only for the work already done, in proportion to the whole job.

If you do not ask us to start early, we will not begin work until the 14 days have passed.

4. The standard of our work

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 we must carry out our work with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time, and for a reasonable price where no price was agreed in advance.

If our work falls short of that, you can ask us to put it right at our cost. If we cannot put it right, or cannot do so within a reasonable time and without causing you significant inconvenience, you can ask for a reduction in what you pay.

5. Work we do not do

We are a handyman service, not a specialist trade. We will tell you honestly when a job needs someone else, and we will not attempt work we are not qualified to do. That includes gas work, work needing an electrical safety certificate, structural work, and full roof replacement.

6. Getting into the property

  • Please make sure we can get in at the agreed time, and that the area we are working in is clear and safe.
  • Please move or cover anything fragile or valuable before we arrive.
  • If we cannot get in and you have not told us in advance, we may charge for the wasted visit.

7. Damage

If we damage something while working, tell us straight away and we will put it right or cover the cost.

We are not responsible for damage that comes from a fault that was already there, such as a wall that cannot hold a fixing, hidden pipes or cables in an unexpected place, or old fittings that break when they are removed. Where we can see a risk of this, we will point it out before we start.

8. Payment

  • Payment is due when the work is finished, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
  • For larger jobs we may ask for a payment towards materials before we start. This is always agreed with you in advance.
  • We will confirm which payment methods we accept when we agree the job.

9. If something goes wrong

Tell us as soon as you can, by phone or email. We will reply and agree with you how to put it right. Most problems are sorted with a return visit.

10. Our liability

We do not limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Nothing in these terms affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Otherwise, we are not responsible for indirect losses, such as loss of earnings, that we could not reasonably have expected when the job was agreed.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will deal with any dispute.
