What the job involves

Misted glass, stiff handles and draughts do not mean you need new windows. Most window problems can be repaired for far less than replacement frames.

Misted double glazed units get replaced inside your existing frames. Hinges, handles and locks get repaired or replaced. Draught seals get renewed so the cold stays out.

Common questions

My double glazing has gone cloudy. Do I need new windows?

No. A misted unit means the seal has failed on the glass, not that the frame is finished. The glass unit is replaced inside your existing frame for a fraction of the cost of a new window.

The handle is stiff and the window will not lock. Can that be repaired?

Usually yes. Handles, hinges and locking mechanisms are all replaceable parts.

Can you stop the draught?

Yes. Worn draught seals are renewed and windows that have dropped are re-aligned so they close properly again.

Do you replace whole window frames?

No. That is a glazing company's job. Everything repairable is repaired, which is usually the cheaper and better answer.

How do I know if the glass unit has failed?

You get misting or streaking between the two panes that you cannot wipe off from either side. That means the seal has gone and the unit needs replacing. Condensation on the room side of the glass is a different problem, usually ventilation.
